Volunteer to Chaperone
Want to volunteer to chaperone a ski trip???
First of all, THANK YOU! But please know, this process is cumbersome. There are a number of hoops to jump through, but those hoops help us with our number one priority: keeping our students safe.
Your first step should be to read the Seneca Valley's School Board Policy for volunteers, which you can read by clicking HERE.
If you're still interested in helping out, the next step is to download, print and sign the Volunteer Affirmation Form, again, by clicking HERE.
Now the hard part. You'll also need to obtain clearances, including the Act 34 Criminal History Report, Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance statement, and an 114 FBI Clearance. The cost of these clearances is about $24 if they will only be used for volunteering, and the cost is not reimbursed by the district.
ACT 34 Criminal History Report (free for volunteers) can be completed at this website:
https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance (free for volunteers) can be completed at this website:
https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home
FBI Criminal History Clearance ($23.85) can be completed for registering for a fingerprinting appointment at this site:
A few weeks after fingerprinting has been completed, you'll receive a clearance letter in the mail.
All three of these clearance forms need to be submitted to the Athletic office, with an additional copy to Mr. Walker before anyone will be permitted to act as a chaperone.
The good news is that these clearances are good for 5 years, so if you've already done them, this process will be much easier. If you don't have them, take comfort in knowing that once you get them you won't have to do it again (for 5 years anyways.)
If you're considering going through the process but have questions, please contact Mr. Walker at WalkerDC@svsd.net to get those questions answered.
And again, THANK YOU!!!
