Overview

Madrigal Singers

The Madrigal Singers are a small select group of 20 singers chosen by audition at the beginning of the school year that rehearses one night a week. The group performs a cappella madrigal literature of the 15th and 16th C. as well as other appropriate chamber choir literature. A madrigal is a polyphonic song which was sung during the 15th and 16th centuries about love or nature. One goal of the Madrigal Singers is to promote the highest degree of excellence in choral music. The Madrigal Singers recently took 1st place at the North American Choral Festival in NY City. They were also awarded the top Madrigal choir out of all Madrigal choirs competing in North American Festival's 19 different festival locations across the eastern United States. Along with the annual school performances, they present programs for various church and civic organizations both throughout and outside the community.
